VISION MX 2.5

The VISION MX 2.5 is the densest panel in the rental range: 160,000 pixels per square metre. It is the one you bring out when the front row is close to the stage and no compromise on sharpness is possible.

A round pitch, for once

The pitch is exactly 2.5 mm — 500 divided by 200. No commercial rounding to correct on this model: each 500 × 500 mm cabinet carries 200 × 200 pixels, and a wall twenty panels wide is ten metres and 4,000 pixels, with nothing left over.

The grid stops being perceptible at 4.3 metres and fine detail is fully resolved at 8.6 metres.

The front-row problem

This is the constraint that decides the pitch on a job, and it is often framed backwards. You size on the audience's average distance, then on the day someone sits three metres from the screen and sees the grid.

The rule is to calculate on the closest viewer who matters — not the technician walking past, but the front paying row, the journalist at the foot of the stage, the VIP at the edge of the set. Divide that distance by 1.72: at 4.3 metres, the maximum acceptable pitch is 2.5 mm. That is exactly what this panel covers, and it is what justifies it over the VISION MX 2.6, which is cheaper and lighter.

The price: 34 kg per square metre

8.6 kg per panel, or 34 kg/m² — the heaviest in the range. On a 6 × 3 m wall that is 72 panels and 619 kg of panels alone, against 540 kg at 2.6 and 396 kg at 3.9. Add twenty to thirty per cent for structure, motors and cabling.

Maximum density and maximum weight go together: more LEDs, more strips, more drive electronics. It is a constant across every LED range, and it is what makes the choice of pitch inseparable from the rigging calculation.

Construction

SMD1515 LEDs, 10,000 LEDs per module, four 250 × 250 mm modules per cabinet, 3,840 Hz refresh, 16-bit greyscale, colour temperature adjustable from 3,000 to 10,000 K, IP30 front and rear — indoor series, no water protection.
