VISION MX 2.5 xl

The VISION MX 2.5 xl differs from the rest of the range on a point that does not show on a datasheet: it is a rental cabinet designed to stay in place. This cabinet is intended for both live work and fixed installation, with maintenance accessible from front and rear.

The same pitch as the VISION MX 2.5, a different purpose

Pitch of exactly 2.5 mm — 500 divided by 200 — 500 × 500 × 83 mm cabinet, 200 × 200 pixels per panel, 160,000 pixels per square metre. The grid stops being perceptible at 4.3 metres, detail is fully resolved at 8.6 metres.

On paper that is the VISION MX 2.5's specification. The difference lies elsewhere: this cabinet is slightly lighter — 33 kg/m² against 34 — and above all it accepts service from both sides.

Why rear maintenance changes the calculation

On a live job you strike the wall at the end; access hardly matters. On a fixed installation against a partition, the rear becomes unreachable and a module can only be replaced from the front. Conversely, on a wall suspended in the middle of a volume, it is the front that is hard to reach.

A cabinet that accepts both does not force that decision at purchase. It is what allows the same panel to tour for a season, then be permanently installed at a client's site the following year — without discovering at install that it can no longer be serviced.

Construction

Die-cast aluminium cabinet, SMD1515 LEDs, four 250 × 250 mm modules, 22 scan, 3,840 Hz refresh, 140° / 140° viewing angle, 8.3 kg per panel, 16-bit greyscale, colour temperature adjustable from 3,000 to 10,000 K, IP30 — indoor series.

Position in the range

For purely event use, the VISION MX 2.5 covers the same need. If viewing distance exceeds five metres, the VISION MX 2.8 lightens controller load by a fifth with no visible loss. For outdoors, the VISION MX 2.9 OUT moves to double-sided IP65.

• Mixed rental and installation fleet — this is the cabinet's purpose: tour on events, then end up permanently installed at a client's site with no maintenance constraint.

• Fixed corporate or showroom wall — close viewing, rear access available or not depending on layout, and a cabinet that copes with either.

• Screen suspended in the middle of a volume — atrium, lobby, exhibition hall: the case where rear maintenance becomes essential.

• Premium job with a close audience — 2.5 mm pitch for viewing at four metres, with the flatness die casting provides.

• Semi-permanent installation — seasonal showroom, months-long pop-up, brand corner: built like a rental, operated like a fixed install.

• Decide the maintenance mode at purchase, not at install. A front-access-only panel cannot be suspended mid-volume; a rear-access-only panel cannot sit flat against a wall.

• Plan the fleet's second life at investment stage. A cabinet accepting both keeps resale into fixed installation open after three or four rental seasons.

• Test capture before handover. 22 scan is high: a smartphone in automatic mode can show banding on a screen meant to be photographed.

• Allow 16 m² per VX400 Pro. At 160,000 pixels per m², area covered per controller is the lowest in the range.

• Die casting is paid for in flatness. It is the most visible defect on an LED wall, well ahead of a colour mismatch.

• Indoor series, IP30. For outdoors or an open marquee, move to an IP65 range.
