Description
The VISION MX 2.6 is a rental LED panel at a 2.6 mm pitch, in a die-cast cabinet of 500 × 500 × 83 mm. It is the reference format of indoor rental: half a metre square, four 250 × 250 mm modules, and a panel one person handles alone.
The actual pitch is 2.604 mm — 500 divided by 192. Each panel therefore carries 192 × 192 pixels, for a density of 147,456 pixels per square metre. The grid stops being perceptible from 4.5 metres and detail is fully resolved at 9.0 metres.
7.4 kilos: the figure that matters on tour
7.4 kg per panel, or 30 kg per square metre. On a 6 × 3 m wall that is 72 panels and 533 kg — a load to which structure, motors and cabling must be added. That total, not the area, decides the number of rigging points and the hoist class.
For internal comparison, the VISION MX 2.5 weighs 34 kg/m² and the VISION MX 3.9 only 22. On an 18 m² wall, the gap between the 2.5 and the 3.9 is over two hundred kilos — often the difference between straightforward rigging and structural reinforcement.
The 250 × 250 module, and why it is the right split
Four modules per panel, in a square. On a rental wall rigged and derigged fifty times a year, it is the module that takes the knocks, not the cabinet. A 250 mm module travels in a standard case, is swapped in minutes, and costs a quarter of a complete cabinet. It is the true consumable of a rental fleet.
Operational consequence: spares are counted in modules, not panels. Five per cent spare modules across a fleet covers most touring incidents; five per cent spare cabinets costs four times as much for the same cover.
Construction
SMD1515 LEDs, 9,246 LEDs per module, 500 × 500 × 83 mm cabinet, 1,200 nits, 3,840 Hz refresh, 16-bit greyscale, colour temperature adjustable from 3,000 to 10,000 K, IP30 front and rear — this is an indoor panel.
Position in the range
The VISION MX 2.5 tightens the grid to 160,000 pixels per square metre for closer viewing. The VISION MX 2.8 drops to 123,904 pixels and lightens the controller load. For a wall viewed beyond seven metres, the VISION MX 3.9 halves both weight and pixel count.
