Description
The VISION MX 3.9 is the lightweight panel of the rental range: 22 kg per square metre, against 30 on the 2.6 and 2.8, and 34 on the 2.5. Across a touring fleet, that single figure changes logistics, rigging method and the crew size needed to build.
128 × 128 per panel
The actual pitch is 3.90625 mm — 500 divided by 128. Each 500 × 500 × 79 mm cabinet therefore carries exactly 128 × 128 pixels, or 65,536 pixels per square metre. The grid stops being perceptible at 6.7 metres and fine detail is fully resolved at 13.4 metres.
That is the distance of an upstage wall seen from the house, a side screen in a concert layout, a convention wall seen from the back rows. Below seven metres you need to tighten: the VISION MX 2.8 goes down to 5.2 metres, the VISION MX 2.6 to 4.5.
What 22 kg/m² actually changes
Take an 8 × 4.5 m wall, 36 m² and 144 panels.
In VISION MX 3.9: 792 kg of panels.
In VISION MX 2.6: 1,080 kg.
In VISION MX 2.5: 1,224 kg.
Over four hundred kilos between the two ends of the range, at identical area. On motorised rigging that can mean two hoists instead of three. On a ground-support structure it changes the tower class. And in a truck it frees volume for the rest of the kit.
Construction
SMD2020 LEDs, 4,109 LEDs per module, four 250 × 250 mm modules per cabinet, 1,200 nits, 3,840 Hz refresh, 16-bit greyscale, colour temperature adjustable from 3,000 to 10,000 K, cabinet 500 × 500 × 79 mm.
An indoor panel
This series is designed for indoor use, IP30 front and rear. It carries no water protection. For an outdoor job, under an open marquee or in a weather-exposed venue, a purpose-built range is required, such as the VISION MX 2.9 OUT at IP65.
Technical Expertise
Use Cases
Concert and show upstage wall — audience beyond seven metres, large surface, and a weight that decides hoist count before resolution does.
Side screen and image relay — seen from a distance by definition, the case where a fine pitch serves no purpose and lightness pays.
Convention and shareholders' meeting — wide wall seen from the back rows, built and struck the same day.
High-turnover touring fleet — 22 kg/m² lightens every lift, every case and every truck load.
Venue with limited rigging capacity — heritage buildings or older structures where permissible ceiling load is the blocking factor.
Technical Tips
