Category: LED Screen Indoor

Pitch : 3.9 mm

Description

The GHOST 3.9 – 7.8 is the most transparent in the range: 75 % of the surface is empty. Three quarters. At that level the screen stops being an object placed in front of something and becomes an image layer overlaid on the architecture. By day, switched off, you barely see it.

The lightest, by a margin

8.1 kg per square metre, against 10 on the 3.9 and 12.5 on the 2.6. That is as little as plain cladding, and it is what makes possible the installations the other models rule out: suspension from an existing structure, fixing to a glass roof, dressing a lightweight frame. On an already-built building, that figure often decides more than transparency itself.

A markedly stretched geometry

The LEDs sit on widely spaced horizontal strips: that gap is what creates the 75 %. A one-metre panel carries 256 × 128 pixels, or 32,768 pixels per square metre — half a GHOST 3.9, a quarter of a GHOST 2.6. The pixel is distinctly wider than tall.

Distance, and this needs saying plainly

It is not the 3.9 mm in the name that sets the viewing distance, it is the 7.8125 mm vertical spacing. So allow a comfort distance of 13.4 metres and full detail resolution at 26.9 metres. Below thirteen metres the horizontal lines separate and the image falls apart.

That is the accepted price of 75 %: this model is made to be seen from a distance. On a building facade viewed from the street or from the opposite bank, it is exactly the right distance. In a lobby where people walk past at five metres, it is a poor choice however fine the effect.

Construction

SMD1921 LEDs, 500 × 125 mm modules, 8 scan — the lowest in the range, so each LED is the least stressed. 3,840 Hz refresh, 140° / 140° angle, 5,000 nits, consumption 240 W/m² average against an 800 W/m² peak, aluminium frame with front maintenance, −20 to +60 °C range.

Position in the range

If the viewing distance drops below thirteen metres, the GHOST 2.8 – 5.6 brings comfort back to ten metres at 60 % transparency. Below ten metres you need a square grid: GHOST 3.9 at 50 %.

Frequently Asked Questions
