The PIXELIGHT 15 W LED gobo projector is an advertising and event solution built to project your logo, sign or custom artwork onto a floor, a wall or a ceiling. Compact, silent and adjustable through 180°, it turns any surface into a communication medium with no paint and no building work.

How does a LED gobo projector work?

A LED gobo projector throws an image etched on a disc - the gobo, from "Goes Before Optics" - placed between the LED source and the lens. PIXELIGHT always supplies laser-etched mirror-glass gobos, more durable and more precise than metal or plastic-film gobos. Rotation comes from a small motor turning the disc in front of the LED; you can switch it off from the remote for a static projection.

FAQ - 15 W indoor LED gobo projector

How large an image can I project with a 15 W gobo?
At 3 m the projected diameter is around 1.1 m with the 20° optic; at 4 m you get around 1.4 m. For larger projections, see our 30 W, 50 W and 100 W models.

Is the custom gobo included?
Yes. The purchase includes laser etching of a first custom gobo in up to 4 colours. Production time is 10 to 15 days after we receive your vector file (.eps, .ai, .svg). Additional gobos can be ordered separately.

Can I use it outdoors?
No. This model is IP20 and therefore strictly indoor. For outdoor use, choose an IP65 LED gobo projector (30 W, 40 W and 100 W outdoor models available).

How long does the LED last?
The COB LED is rated for 25,000 hours, about 6.8 years at 10 h of use per day, maintenance-free.

Do I need an installer?
No. The unit plugs into a standard 220 V socket. A simple wall or ceiling fixing is enough, and the integrated stand also allows shelf or counter use.

How does it differ from a video projector?
A video projector shows moving images and needs a computer or video source. A LED gobo projector shows a static or rotating image in high definition, with no pixellation, 10x lower power draw and a 20x longer life. It is built for continuous, permanent use.

How big is the image at a given distance?

With its 20° optic, this 15 W LED gobo projector throws a circle whose diameter is about 0.353 times the projection distance.

• At 3 m: image 1.06 m across

• At 5 m: image 1.76 m across

• At 8 m: image 2.82 m across

• At 12 m: image 4.23 m across

• At 20 m: image 7.05 m across

These figures follow from the optics alone: D = 2 × d × tan(20° / 2), i.e. D ≈ 0.353 × d. They depend neither on the gobo nor on the wattage — the beam angle, and only the beam angle, sets the image size. A medium aperture like this one is chosen for a throw of roughly 2 to 11 m, giving an image 0.8 to 4 m across.

Because the gobo rotates on this version, the image sweeps a disc of that diameter: size the projection surface on the full figure, not on the height of the motif alone.

Choosing the wattage

This 15 W class is sized for short throws and moderate ambient light: a lit shop window, a counter, a wall corner. In direct sun or against street lighting it will wash out.

Image illuminance falls with the square of the distance: doubling the throw divides brightness by four. Conversely, holding the same image brightness while moving back requires power to rise with the square of the distance — going from 20 W to 40 W buys roughly 40% more throw, not twice as much.

In every case, readability depends first on contrast: a light, matt surface with little other light on it beats a higher wattage thrown onto a dark or glossy background.

Installation and operation

• Gobo rotation is motorised: allow clearance around the optic and check that the logo reads correctly through the whole rotation.

• The 20° optic is factory-fitted. To enlarge the image you rarely move the projector: you change the angle. Going from 20° to a wider aperture multiplies the diameter without moving the fixing point.

• Focus on the lens ring at the final throw distance: an image sharp at 3 m is no longer sharp at 8 m.

• One standard gobo is supplied. Custom gobos come in metal (cut motif, single colour, very durable) and glass (colours, gradients, photographic). Glass is essential as soon as more than one colour is involved.

• IP20 restricts the unit to indoor use, away from splashing water and salt spray.

• 220-240 V supply, stated MTBF 25,000 h. Switch it with the site lighting rather than running it permanently: useful LED life is extended accordingly.
