What throw distance can I expect? It depends on the 9° optic and the 40 W output - typically 4 to 18 m. Beyond that range, move up in wattage or choose a narrower beam angle.

Is a gobo supplied? One standard gobo is included. Custom gobos - your logo, a slogan, a seasonal pattern - are available as an option, in glass or metal.

Can it stay outdoors all year? Yes. The IP65 rating covers dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, so the unit can be installed permanently on a facade, a pole or a canopy without additional shelter.

How big is the image at a given distance?

With its 9° optic, this 40 W LED gobo projector throws a circle whose diameter is about 0.157 times the projection distance.

• At 5 m: image 0.79 m across

• At 10 m: image 1.57 m across

• At 15 m: image 2.36 m across

• At 20 m: image 3.15 m across

• At 30 m: image 4.72 m across

These figures follow from the optics alone: D = 2 × d × tan(9° / 2), i.e. D ≈ 0.157 × d. They depend neither on the gobo nor on the wattage — the beam angle, and only the beam angle, sets the image size. A very narrow aperture like this one is chosen for a throw of roughly 5 to 25 m, giving an image 0.8 to 4 m across.

The adjustable yoke on this version lets you correct the framing after mounting: the throw distance can be tuned on site without removing the bracket.

Choosing the wattage

At 40 W the image stays readable on light surfaces under strong ambient light, and over longer throw distances.

Image illuminance falls with the square of the distance: doubling the throw divides brightness by four. Conversely, holding the same image brightness while moving back requires power to rise with the square of the distance — going from 20 W to 40 W buys roughly 40% more throw, not twice as much.

Outdoors, the practical rule is to project after dark onto a light, matt surface, and to avoid dark, glossy or already-lit walls, which crush contrast whatever the power.

In every case, readability depends first on contrast: a light, matt surface with little other light on it beats a higher wattage thrown onto a dark or glossy background.

Installation and operation

• The adjustable yoke sets tilt and azimuth after fixing: mount the plate first, set the framing next, then lock it off.

• The 9° optic is factory-fitted. To enlarge the image you rarely move the projector: you change the angle. Going from 9° to a wider aperture multiplies the diameter without moving the fixing point.

• Focus on the lens ring at the final throw distance: an image sharp at 3 m is no longer sharp at 8 m.

• One standard gobo is supplied. Custom gobos come in metal (cut motif, single colour, very durable) and glass (colours, gradients, photographic). Glass is essential as soon as more than one colour is involved.

• IP65 covers dust and water jets: the unit stays outdoors all year. Clean the front lens twice a year — a film of dust costs more brightness than people expect.

• 220-240 V supply, stated MTBF 25,000 h. Switch it with the site lighting rather than running it permanently: useful LED life is extended accordingly.
