Description
The GHOST DOT 3000 is a circular transparent LED screen three metres in diameter. Not a rounded square, not a round frame around a rectangular panel: a complete 7.07 m² disc you can see through.
A shape that changes how people look
A rectangular LED wall is an expected object — you know what it is before you have looked at it. A luminous disc suspended in a volume, through which you still see the architecture, has no immediate mental equivalent. That is precisely what makes it a piece of scenography rather than a display medium.
Specifications
Pitch of 3.9 × 7.81 mm — the horizontal strip geometry of the transparent platform: dots tight along the strip, strips spaced apart, and that spacing is what creates the transparency. Density of 32,768 pixels per square metre, roughly 231,000 pixels across the disc.
SMD1921 LEDs, 2,500 nits, 3,840 Hz refresh, 140° / 140° viewing angle, average consumption 240 W/m² against an 800 W/m² peak. Over 7.07 m² that is about 1.7 kW in normal operation.
Distance is calculated on the vertical spacing
This is the classic mistake with dual-pitch transparent screens. It is not the 3.9 mm that sets the viewing distance, it is the 7.8125 mm between strips. Allow a comfort distance of 13.4 metres and full detail resolution at 26.9 metres.
On a three-metre disc suspended in an atrium, a station concourse or a gallery, that is exactly the right scale: you see it from afar, you walk around it, and the grid never separates.
Composing the content
A circle is not filled like a rectangle. There are no corners, so any composition designed for a frame loses its anchors. What works: circular movement, abstract texture, a rotating motif, a centred face. What does not: text on a line, a rectangular logo, cropped 16:9 video.
As on every transparent screen, black is the ally: a black pixel does not emit and lets you see through. That is where the effect happens, and it is also what keeps consumption at a third of the peak.
Position in the range
Five diameters exist: one, one and a half, two, two and a half and three metres. The GHOST DOT 2000 covers 3.14 m² for a lighter installation, the GHOST DOT 1000 fits in a shop window. For a flat rather than circular surface, the GHOST 3.9 – 7.8 range shares exactly the same technical platform.
Technical Expertise
Technical Excellence in LED Engineering
At Pixelight, we prioritize electronic stability and visual performance. The GHOST DOT 3000 utilizes advanced SMD (Surface Mounted Device) technology to achieve optimal color blending and uniformity. Unlike standard indoor modules that struggle with glare, our 2500-nit configuration provides the necessary headroom to maintain a high dynamic range (HDR) even in challenging lighting conditions.
High Refresh Rate and Visual Integrity
- Refresh Rate: Equipped with high-end driver ICs, the GHOST DOT 3000 supports refresh rates upwards of 3840Hz, eliminating flicker and scan lines during high-speed filming or mobile photography.
- Contrast and Black Levels: The module is engineered with a high-contrast mask to deepen black levels, significantly improving the perceived resolution and depth of the content.
- Reliability: Each unit undergoes rigorous burn-in testing at our facilities. While standard SMD is the core, we offer advice on GOB (Glue on Board) enhancements for projects requiring additional impact resistance and moisture protection.
- Color Calibration: Our technical team provides pixel-by-pixel calibration to ensure 100% color uniformity across the entire display surface, preventing the "patchwork" effect common in lower-tier products.
Use Cases
Versatile Application Scenarios
The GHOST DOT 3000 is engineered for versatility, making it the preferred choice for various high-end indoor environments:
- Luxury Retail & Flagship Stores: Create stunning shop-window displays that cut through daylight to attract foot traffic.
- Corporate Atriums & Receptions: Deploy large-scale digital backdrops that reflect brand prestige with high-brightness clarity.
- TV Studios & Broadcast: Thanks to the high refresh rate, these modules perform flawlessly on camera without moiré or flickering.
- Creative Architectural Installations: Due to its unique "Dot" architecture, it can be integrated into non-traditional surfaces for artistic light-and-shadow effects.
- Command & Control Rooms: Reliable 24/7 operation for critical data visualization where high contrast and wide viewing angles are essential for operators.
Technical Tips
Pro-Tips for Optimal Performance
To maximize the lifespan and visual impact of your GHOST DOT 3000 installation, our technical department recommends the following:
- Power Management: Always calculate the maximum power consumption (calculated in Watts per square meter) to ensure your distribution box and breakers are correctly rated. Avoid overloading circuits to maintain power factor efficiency.
- Viewing Distance: Ensure the installation height aligns with the optimal viewing distance to minimize pixelation and maximize viewer engagement.
- Signal Integrity: Use high-quality shielded CAT6 cables for data transmission between the sending box and receiving cards to prevent electromagnetic interference.
- Thermal Regulation: Although designed for indoor use, ensure adequate airflow behind the modules to dissipate heat, which preserves the lumen maintenance of the LEDs over time.
- Controller Setup: Use professional-grade processors (like NovaStar or Colorlight) to unlock advanced grayscale processing and low-latency performance.
