NovaStar DIS-300 — one controller, several screens

The DIS-300 splits one Ethernet output signal across several screens. Two modes: 1 input to 8 outputs, or 2 inputs to 4 + 4 outputs. Each port carries up to 650,000 pixels, that is 1,300,000 pixels total in two-input mode. It is the device that lets a network of small and medium screens be fed from a single controller.

NovaStar DIS-300 — technical analysis

The typical use case is a network of identical screens showing the same content: a multi-counter bank branch, a shopping mall, a trading floor, a chain of retail points on one site. Without a distributor you need one controller per screen or a controller with many ports. With a DIS-300, a single entry-level controller feeds eight screens, and the budget shifts from control to display area.

The point to grasp: the DIS-300 duplicates, it does not divide. The eight outputs carry the same signal as the input feeding them, and the 650,000-pixel ceiling per port remains that of a Gigabit link. It is therefore not a way to enlarge a single wall — that needs a controller with more ports — but a way to serve several distinct screens. Two-input mode allows two different contents across two groups of four screens.
