Description
The SUNLITE 3.9 OUT L is the 3.9 mm outdoor panel in a cabinet one metre wide by fifty centimetres high. Same electronics, same LEDs, same pitch as the XL version: only the cabinet height changes. And that is precisely what makes it indispensable.
At an actual pitch of 3.90625 mm, this cabinet carries exactly 256 × 128 pixels. Density remains 65,536 pixels per square metre, identical to the XL format.
The format that unlocks impossible heights
A facade is rarely a whole number of metres. A signage band above a shop window, a spandrel between two floors, a soffit return: usable heights land at 2.50 m, 3.50 m, 1.50 m. With one-square-metre cabinets only, you must choose between losing area and overrunning the support.
The L format resolves this in fifty-centimetre steps. A 2.50 m height is two XL cabinets and one L; a 1.50 m height, one XL and one L. The two formats mix freely within the same wall — same pitch, same density, same controller, no visible seam.
When only the L will do
For very horizontal bands — a ten-metre-long sign fifty centimetres high — the L format is the only one that makes sense. Twenty cabinets, a single row, 5,120 × 128 pixels. In XL you would have to cut the panel or accept double the height.
Construction
1/16 scan, 6,500 K colour temperature, 1,000 × 500 mm cabinet. Viewing distances are those of a 3.9 mm pitch: grid invisible from 6.7 metres, full detail resolved at 13.4 metres.
Position in the range
For large solid surfaces, the SUNLITE 3.9 OUT XL halves the number of fixings. For viewing beyond twelve metres, the SUNLITE 6.9 OUT L offers the same cabinet format at a third of the density.
Technical Expertise
Use Cases
Signage band above a shop window — very horizontal, low height, read from seven to fifteen metres across the street. This is the use case the format exists for.
Height make-up on a facade built from XL cabinets — when the usable surface lands on a half height. The two formats mix with no visible seam.
Spandrel between two floors — height constrained by the building structure, width free. The fifty-centimetre step fills without overrunning.
Soffit return under a canopy or marquee — low, wide surface, often in shade, which allows brightness and therefore consumption to be reduced.
Totem or column cladding — vertical stack of L cabinets for a one-metre width, with height adjustable in half-metre steps.
Technical Tips
Survey the surface to the centimetre before ordering. Parapets, downpipes and render returns nearly always reduce the quoted area. The survey decides the format mix, not the other way round.
Map receiving card boundaries on the drawing. An L cabinet carries 32,768 pixels, an XL twice that: port limits fall in different places depending on the mix.
Double the planned number of supply points in L-format zones. Two L cabinets draw like one XL but need two connections.
Set the support structure on a fifty-centimetre grid. As soon as a wall mixes L and XL, a one-metre grid no longer works.
On a band over ten metres, plan for an optical link. Chaining a long row quickly exceeds the hundred metres copper allows.
Check what the screen covers. Ventilation grille, smoke vent, fire-service access: these are discovered on installation day if they are not surveyed at measurement.
