NovaStar MBOX600 Pro — technical analysis

The argument shows on the cabinet drawing. A classic installation needs a playback PC, a sending controller, two power supplies, a switch and the cabling between all three. The MBOX600 Pro replaces the lot with a 1.8 kg box powered at 12 V. On a totem, a street-furniture mast or a façade, that means a smaller cabinet, less exposed connectivity and one device to service.

The second argument is remote operation. The 4G/5G module and SNMP monitoring allow a screen to be driven and watched with no wired link to the site — exactly the need of an urban totem estate or car-park screens. The two sensor connectors take a light probe for day/night regulation. To plan for: power is 12 V DC, not mains, and the box is not rackable.

Use Cases

  • Totems and street furniture — smaller cabinet, 4G/5G control with no wired link.
  • Façade screens with a remote control room — remote SNMP monitoring.
  • Car parks and retail parks — sites with no local network available.
  • Fixed retail and corporate installation — one box instead of three.
  • Cabinet refurbishment — space and cabling saved.

Technical Tips

  • 12 V DC power — no direct mains: plan the power brick into the cabinet.
  • 2.6 million pixels — width capped at 4096 px and height at 1920 px: check the wall geometry.
  • Single HDMI 1.3 input — no DVI, no DisplayPort.
  • Remote operation — the 4G/5G module and SNMP are the argument on a dispersed estate.
  • One device to service — but also one point of failure: plan spare stock.
