Description

NovaStar C3200 — measuring every pixel to remove mura

The C3200 is NovaStar's scientific calibration system for MiniLED and microLED screens. It pairs a 32-megapixel measurement camera with the CalCube MiniLED software and measures luminance and chromaticity at pixel level, generating 12-bit correction coefficients.

Specifications

Camera: 32 Mpx sensor, 6573 x 4862, 1.7 fps maximum, Gigabit Ethernet, fixed 35 mm Nikon F mount lens
Accuracy: luminance Y ±3 % — chromaticity coordinates x, y ±0.003
Short-term repeatability: Y ±0.15 % — x, y ±0.0006
Result after calibration: luminance deviation below ±1 %, chromatic deviation below ±0.003, 12-bit coefficients
Weight: 2.8 kg — Environment: 0 to 30 °C, 20 to 70 % RH non-condensing
Supplied with: case, tripod with bag and head, mains adapter, Ethernet cable, USB key and dongle
Warranty: 3 years

Technical Expertise

NovaStar C3200 — technical analysis

This product is not sold on its own: it is sold with a service. An integrator does not buy a calibration camera to resell it, they buy it to invoice commissioning and recalibration of a wall. It is the highest-margin line in the business, and it recurs: an LED wall drifts over time, and recalibration every twelve to twenty-four months becomes contractual revenue rather than a capital cost.

Three constraints to know before investing. The 35 mm lens is not removable: measurement distance is imposed by geometry, not by optics choice. The operating range is 0 to 30 °C, which limits on-site measurement in summer and winter without a tempered room. And the PC is prescribed: at least 3.0 GHz, 16 GB of memory and an Intel network card supporting 9014-byte jumbo frames, under 64-bit Windows 10. The supplied dongle is mandatory for the software to run.

Use Cases

  • MiniLED wall commissioning — making a fine-pitch wall uniform at handover.
  • Recalibration contracts — recurring revenue every 12 to 24 months.
  • Mura removal — eliminating panel-to-panel drift and luminance blotches.
  • Studio and broadcast — measurable uniformity written into the specification.
  • Commercial differentiation — moving from distributor to technical partner.

Technical Tips

  • Sold with a service — the equipment alone makes no sense: commissioning and recalibration are what get invoiced.
  • Fixed 35 mm lens — measurement distance is imposed by wall geometry.
  • 0 to 30 °C only — on-site measurement limited without a tempered room.
  • Prescribed PC — 3 GHz minimum, 16 GB, Intel network card with 9014-byte jumbo frames, 64-bit Windows 10.
  • Dongle mandatory — without it and its authorisation file, the software will not start.
