The SPARE 10% add-on is the maintenance stock option PIXELIGHT offers across its full indoor and outdoor LED panel ranges. It adds 10% of LED modules, power supplies and receiving cards to your order - strictly identical to those fitted on your screen - so that a business-critical installation keeps running. On a professional digital signage project, parts availability is what actually sets the time to restore service: a faulty LED module swapped in ten minutes from local stock avoids several weeks waiting for a factory resupply. This add-on is aimed at AV integrators, advertising operators, public authorities and DOOH network owners who have to meet a contractual uptime figure on their LED screen. It is calculated pro rata to the surface ordered and shipped together with the project panels.

Sizing a spare lot rests on three parameters: the total area of the LED display, the number of LED modules per cabinet and how critical the operation is. An indoor LED module usually measures 250 × 250 mm, so sixteen modules to a 500 × 500 mm cabinet. On a 20 m² wall that is 320 modules in service, and a 10 % lot puts 32 of them on the shelf, available the same day in the workshop or on site.

What is in a 10 % lot

• LED modules from the same production batch as the cabinets delivered, therefore the same LED bin and the same mask: no visible colour shift after a replacement.
• Power supplies of the same manufacturer reference, factory-tested before shipping.
• Receiving cards pre-flashed with the project configuration file, ready to fit without going through the calibration software.
• Service accessories: fixings, extraction magnets and suction cups, data cables and cabinet-to-cabinet power leads.

At 10 % the lot covers the everyday failure rate of an indoor installation that has a maintenance window: a module or a power supply replaced between two operating days, without the display ever going dark in front of an audience. It is the floor below which a spare lot stops being useful, because a single incident empties it.

Every lot is recorded in the project technical file with the serial numbers of the cards, which is how the exact configuration is recovered years after delivery. PIXELIGHT also keeps the calibration file for your LED display — the condition for a replacement module to blend into an existing image with no retouching.

On budget: a spare complement ordered with the project costs appreciably less than an isolated spare-parts order later. No factory minimum order, no emergency air freight, no full re-calibration of the replaced zone. That is why most professional specifications now carry a spare line from the tender stage onwards.

• Multi-site DOOH network — street furniture and totems running an LED display continuously: the spare stock is split between regional branches to hold a 24-hour response time.
• Control and supervision room — traffic, energy, security: the image cannot be interrupted, so the swap is done live from the front using the reserve LED modules.
• Retail and flagship store — an LED wall in the window is the first communication medium the outlet has; one dead module damages the brand image immediately.
• Stadium and sports hall — ball impacts on a pitch-side LED strip are statistically unavoidable: the spare lot is sized for a full season.

In all four B2B scenarios the 10 % complement is written into the maintenance contract and forms part of the commissioning deliverables.

• Store LED modules flat, in their original foam, between 5 and 35 degrees and away from damp.
• Power the lot up once a year for a few hours: it stops the power-supply capacitors ageing on the shelf.
• Keep a stock inventory up to date after every intervention and top the lot back up as soon as the reserve falls below half of what was delivered.

Compatibility and integration

The spare LED modules are compatible with the Novastar control systems used on our installations (MCTRL, VX and H series) and with Colorlight, as well as with the project original receiving cards. Power stays 110-240 V AC to 5 V DC, data cabling RJ45 category 6, power daisy-chained through locking connectors. Mounting is front or rear depending on the structure chosen: fixed frame, hanging rail or flight case. No specific tooling is needed — a suction cup or extraction magnet for the LED modules, a screwdriver for the power supplies. The configuration is reloaded from the project file supplied by PIXELIGHT, which puts the operation within reach of a maintenance technician who is not an LED display specialist.
